Photographs of Şile’s wild coastline painted with waves can be taken from here. Tahlisiye stations are search and rescue units that assist seafarers in trouble at sea in stormy weather. Even at this point of shooting, a stranded ship takes part in the photo composition. Tahlisiye stations in the Black Sea were established in 1866 during the Ottoman period. Tahlisiye is among the oldest organizations of the General Directorate of the Coast Guard. With the support of the British army, a number of rescue stations have been built to both help seafarers and ensure the security of the Black Sea coast.
The Tahlisiye buildings date back a century; they still stand as historical heritage today. Tahlisiye stations consist of three large buildings called dormitories, rocket house and boathouse. In order to explain the rocket house, it would be appropriate to explain the rockets first of all. The vehicles used to throw ropes to the stranded ships that cannot be reached from the shore are called rocket. In other words, the rocket house can be considered as a kind of ammunition depot.
