Approximately 80 percent of Şile district is covered with forests. The people of the district earn a large part of their income from forestry activities. A large part of its agricultural activities includes hazelnut cultivation. Vegetable and fruit cultivation are done according to the needs of the local people. There is also honey and especially chestnut honey production in Şile. Honey production has increased considerably with the incentives given in recent years and honey has become the rising value of Şile. However, seasonal surplus agriculture and animal products are sold to visitors on stalls on the road. In this way, the fresh flavours of Şile meet with visitors in their season, without intermediaries. Although it varies according to the season, products such as chestnut honey, local herbs, walnuts, hazelnuts, wild strawberries, fermented bread varieties, mushrooms, linden, sage and thyme are sold on the stalls.
