Developing Ecotourism Network in the Black Sea Region
Municipality of Byala is a partner in the project “ECOTURNET / Development of the ecotourism network in the Black Sea region”, funded by the “Joint Operational Program Black Sea Basin 2014-2020” under the priority: “Joint promotion of business and entrepreneurship in the field of tourism and culture.”
The leading partner in the project is Sile District Administration - Istanbul, Republic of Turkey. The other partners are: Regional Agency for Development of the Zaporizhia Region - Ukraine, Xanthi Municipality - Hellenic Republic and Caucasus Environment Foundation - Georgia.
The overall goal of the Project “ECOTURNET / Development of the ecotourism network in the Black Sea region” is to contribute to the development and diversification of ecotourism activities, taking care of the balance of protection and use of natural and cultural resources to improve the well-being of people in The Black Sea basin.
Eco-tourism, which provides a significant contribution in terms of income and employment in the Black Sea region, aims to develop in direct proportion to the high potential of the region. In order to increase the average overnight stays of local and foreign tourists in the region, which are below the international average, it is necessary to diversify the tourist products and services, to expand the tourist activities throughout the year. In this scope, the project aims to diversify the activities, which are currently limited to specific routes and topics for foreign visitors, in accordance with the natural and cultural potentials of the region. The creation of various routes and locations for eco-tourism will help increase the number of tourist revenues and visitors.
As a project partner, a small-scale infrastructure has been implemented on the territory of Byala Municipality, including 1 bird watching tower, 2 main bicycle routes and 1 circular connecting route, and 9 recreation places along the routes of the bicycle routes.
